여러 학생들을 만나보니 식품공학과에 다니고 있지만 식품 공학이 어떤 학문인지 감을 못 잡고 있는 학생들도 있었고 반면에 무언가를 열심히 해야겠다는 느낌은 있는데 지금 당장 어떤 것을 공부해야 하는지 모르겠다는 학생들도 있었다. 학생들이 공통적으로 고민하고 있는 부분을 발견하였고 이러한 학생들에게 조금이나마 도움이 되었으면 하는 마음으로 글을 적게 되었다. 따라서, 본 저서를 식품 공학 전공을 고민하는 중고등학생과 식품 공학의 미래에 대해 고민하는 학부생 또는 대학원생에게 추천한다.
